Well....Here we go again.

Take a listen to THE MAN talking back in 1961. Still sounds great to hear his voice.

Interview With Mitt Romney

In case you missed it, here is a very good interview from Newsweek with Mitt regarding healthcare and how he handled it as Governor. To me it a good example of leadership, consensus building, state run healthcare and the fact that programs of this magnitude take time:

abe-lincoln

So I said to him, “Barack, I know Abe Lincoln, and you ain’t Abe Lincoln.”

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

…..Abraham Lincoln

Reagan Statue Unveiled

In case you missed it, Ronald Reagan is now more important to California than a former 19th Century preacher:

I continue to be delinquent in acting as a respository of news like I promised I would. Here is a very nice piece by William Kristol:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/11/AR2009051102866.html

I like how the article outlines some hot issues to pay attention to and moves away from this introspective crap that I keep reading about. We do not need to try to completely redefine or recreate our party and get all wierd about it in the process. We need to focus on why we are who we are and expose why the current administration is not a good alternative.

My Bro Arlen! Big Revolutionary Thumbs Up!

My Bro Arlen! Big Revolutionary Thumbs Up!

No question why Sen. Specter switched to the Dems.  He was losing, BIG TIME!

(from USA Today)

“In a Rasmussen Reports poll out this morning, the Pennsylvania Republican lags behind GOP primary challenger Pat Toomey by more than 20%.  Just 30% of Republican voters in the Keystone State say they would vote for the incumbent, while 51% are throwing their support behind Toomey.  Furthermore,  55% of voters have an unfavorable view of the incumbent senator, according to the poll.  Rasmussen Reports calls those stats “stunningly poor” for a veteran such as Specter, who’s spent nearly 30 years in Congress’ upper chamber.”
So when the tough get going so does Specter. I will not listen to anyone who says this is O.K. for the Republican’s or that he was basically a Dem anyway.  This is bad and embarrassing .  60 is 60.  Losing is losing and evidently Arlen, who personally has bravely battled cancer twice,  does not want to lose his seat. I lived in Pennsylvania for 9 years so I hope the Republicans are ready to battle for their state.  We cannot afford to lose this.

Snow Job?

Author: Admin account
04 14th, 2009

I am not so narrow minded that I do not believe that a Republican should never cross party lines to work with a Democrat. It is how the political process should work. However, I do think that when you are politically in opposite spectrums from someone you should be on guard when they come to you as a friend. I believe that many people subscribe to the saying “keep you friends close but your enemies closer”. I hate that saying. I prefer to hang with people I like and compete against people I do not.
It seems that Olympia Snowe R-Maine (she of the 3 Republicans who voted in support of the Stimulus Plan) is really enjoying hanging with the new administration (http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2009/04/13/1889937.aspx):

“The Washington Post’s profile of Rahm doesn’t break a lot of new ground, but this nugget at the end — regarding the special attention being paid to Olympia Snowe — is interesting. “Even GOP lawmakers praised the White House attention. ‘He always takes my calls,’ said Sen. Olympia J. Snowe (Maine), a moderate who is wooed by Democrats on every major bill. She even considered voting for the budget. When Snowe heard that Obama would visit Turkey at the end of his first overseas trip as president, the Greek American senator called Emanuel to ask that Obama meet with the Greek Orthodox patriarch in Istanbul. Already on the itinerary, the chief of staff assured her. Hours after Emanuel returned to the White House last week, he was working on another sale, telling himself, ‘I better call Olympia to tell her how it went.’”

Wow! I hope she kind find time to do some work for the party that elected her.

What did the two candidates say about pork in the last election? They started to sound a lot alike, didn’t they? I am hearing that Cyndi Lauper song in my head right now and I cannot get it to go away!
