Obama The Golfer

Author: Admin account
12 2nd, 2009

Ya, so it has been awhile. Lot’s of stuff going on in my life. Stumbled upon many interesting items in the last month that I wanted to share but did not have time. Here is the first of hopefully many posts to come to close out the year. By the way, if you have any interest and would like to post on this site, email me and let’s chat.

Anyway, did you know that our basketball playing, all-American President who is just like you and me has actually golfed more than W did in two terms? This is a great article about it here:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125900966061461145.html

Love this part: “And where Mr. Obama’s basketball game is showy and often televised, his golf is furtive and off-the-record. He plays with junior aides and discreet longtime friends. There’s no press allowed onto the course with him, no cameras — and few witnesses. A foursome of loyal staffers often plays out ahead of him, clearing the way and trying to ensure no one spies.”

Of course he hides it. What would all the ACORN people think?

Change You Can Get a Job With

Interesting article from USA Today regarding the appointments Obama has made for various positions and how many of them gave him some serious coin while he was a candidate. I thought Barry was stoping this Washington as usual stuff? Sounded good at the time:

Sorry, W wore us out! We will be back in 2012 when a Republican is back in office.

Sorry, W wore us out! We will be back in 2012 when a Republican is back in office.

Can anyone answer that? Anyway, got a big kick out of Hillary’s interview on CBS News with Katie Couric a couple of days ago. First of all, welcome back Hillary! Are you not so psyched that you took this job? Other than falling and breaking a bone in an ‘unfortunate accident’ (see Vince Foster) you really have not gotten much exposure or done much, eh? Regardless, happy to see her actually answering some questions instead of having Barry and Mr. Vice President doing her work for her.
Regarding the interview, I really liked how Couric referred to McChrystal as one of Barry’s ‘advisors’ Ya, he has the same amount of say that Raum does on what is going on in the big Afghan, come on! Also, really got a kick out of this exchange:

Couric: Let me ask you a couple of questions about the situation there. Do you think the situation is deteriorating in Afghanistan?

Clinton: I think it’s mixed. I think that– certainly– as we’ve now seen, General McChrystal’s– assessment was that it– is deteriorating. That the Taliban have– the momentum. That they are much more aggressive. They are better equipped. They are– moving– more broadly in the country than they had been before. At the same time, I think there are some positive– developments that may not get the attention, because they’re not in the headlines.

A lot has change in Afghanistan in the last eight years. Many more people, particularly children– women, girls, are, you know, back in school. They get health care. There’s a lot of positive developments, the university enrollment, including many, many young women students is up.

Does Hillary’s answer sound familiar? It was the same answer that every freaking member of W’s ‘advisors’ said about Iraq. The. Same. Why did Couric not pounce on this? I think you know why.

I do not get this at all. Here are 10 questions I have regarding Barry’s trip to Denmark:

1. Who is paying for this?
2. How many of Barry’s Chicago donors have the potential to benefit financially if the Olympics are awarded to Chicago?
3. Is he The President of The United States or the President of Chicago?
4. Would he help another city out like this, Grand Rapids for example, if they were trying to win some business overseas?
5. Who the F cares about the Olympics anymore?
6. Are there not some more pressing issues going on in the world for Barry to be concerned about?
7. Does anyone in Denmark know who the hell Oprah is?
8. Has anyone in Denmark ever seen 3 black people in the same room?
9. Can’t Oprah just buy the country and make them award Chicago the Olympics?
10. Why didn’t he bring Nancy with him so she can use her charm to close this deal?

Word.

Word.

I have to laugh that it took some real undercover journalism to finally expose this organization for what they really are. I mean, how freaking obvious has this been to normal American’s for the last couple of year’s? Here is an excellent article written over a year ago about ACORN that I bet you have not read. Also, did you know that the first four letters in ACORN stand for: Association of Community Organizer’s…..

It is pretty darn obvious that the price of gas has gone way up in the last 6 months. I am back to the days of putting no more than $40 in my gas guzzler every week as I refuse to fill ‘er up. Still staying back in those days, it has caused me to reflect a bit on all of the W blaming regarding this topic the last time we saw a spike. Remember those? My favorite was that Bush was conspiring with all of his oil buddies to pad their pockets. A really believable theory if you have no idea of how the pricing system for fuel works and you have a screw loose. Here are two polls during this time to remind people of who the American public blamed:

http://blogs.consumerreports.org/cars/2008/06/high-gas-prices.html

http://www.dailyfueleconomytip.com/miscellaneous/who-do-we-blame-for-high-gasoline-prices/

Well, what do you think now? I think this will be a non-issue as far as the media is concerned until we get above $3.50. Then someone at NBC or ABC will show some matrix that exhibits oil prices always going up every 20 years and that the rise since Obama’s inauguration is actually BELOW that average and somehow W is still to blame. How am I doing?

Noel Sheppard actually presents some facts here:

Obama Picks Fundraising Over Tact

Its all about the money!

Its all about the money!

File this one under the priorities category. As everyone who is not currently living with their parents is aware, the economy is not doing so hot. One of the hardest hit states is California. The Governator is trying sell everything to assist in balancing the budget. So, a visit by the President would be a very nice thing. You know, uplifting, encouraging, a great way to make money..what? (From NBC Los Angeles.com) :

President Barack Obama visited Beverly Hills Wednesday for a Democratic National Committee event that was expected to raise between $3 million and $4 million because of a hefty $30,400 price tag….Tickets to the reception at the Beverly Hilton, which featured performances Jennifer Hudson and Earth, Wind and Fire and the president. went for a base price of $1,000, VIP seats went for $2,500, according to Hari Sevugan, the national press secretary for the Democratic National Committee.
Admission to what was described as a separate “dinner and discussion” cost $30,400 per couple, which matches the maximum yearly individual contribution to a national committee under federal law.

When they are about to close all of the California State Parks, the freaking parks, your timing I would say could not be worse.
Great timing Barry. How much money did it cost us to get you there?

Not these panthers, silly!

Not these panthers, silly!

I remember watching some of the election day coverage which other than giving me a feeling like I was on death row waiting for my maker was overall very good. I remember an incident with some African-American men in front of a voting area in Philly and a reporter insinuating that there was some potential voter intimidation going on. At first I thought the reporter was being a little douchey. He seemed to be making a big deal out of this, but as I began to think about it and see how the men in front of the voting place were reacting to the reporter when he attempted to interview them I began to see this as a potentially bad situation for the people who had to vote that day at that location.

Below is an excellent editorial from The Washington Times about this situation and how the Obama Administration’s Justice Department has decided to not do anything about it. It is the perfect editorial about the double standards that exist in this country and I challenge anyone to debate this:

Loopholes are fun

Loopholes are fun

I was watching this show on the HG channel. Yes, I watch the channel so please leave me alone. Anyway, it had to do with home remodeling and every week they pick a house that a particular couple who lives in agrees to have designers come in and share their ideas of how the house can look better. I remember an episode like 2 months ago that featured Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife. Their budget was something like $125,000 and they wanted to remodel their rather large house on the south side of Chicago. They had lived in the house for a long time and based on the fact that Mrs. Jackson Jr. was an Alderman (or Alderwoman?) for this section of Chicago they could not move away from her district. I remember thinking at the time that the house was pretty darn big for the salaries that they earned but there is always family money and stuff so whatever.

Now, everyone know that Junior has been under investigation for his involvement in the Blago stuff regarding Obama’s seat, right? Here are some new revelations that have surfaced regarding how his finances have been attained:

May 21 (Bloomberg) — Representative Jesse Jackson Jr.’s congressional campaign organization has paid his wife at least $247,500 since 2001, including at least $95,000 after Sandra Jackson joined the Chicago City Council two years ago, according to federal election records.

Jackson’s political committee also gave at least $298,927 in cash and in-kind contributions to Sandra Jackson’s campaign fund, which bankrolled her races for a city council seat that pays more than $100,000 per year and an unpaid position on the Cook County Democratic Committee.

Sandra Jackson, known as Sandi, received the $95,000 for political consulting after pledging during her campaign to give “my full attention” to the alderman’s post.

Jesse Jackson got a Federal Election Commission advisory opinion in 2001 saying his campaign could pay Sandi Jackson for consulting work without violating a ban on personal use of political donations. Even so, the Chicago Democrat’s fundraising is so entangled with his family’s interests that he’s pushing the limits of propriety, said Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a nonprofit ethics watchdog group.

“Much of this may be legal, but let’s refer back to an old quote: the scandal in Washington often is what’s legal,” said Sloan, whose group in 2007 reported on relatives who profit from their ties to members of Congress. “Mr. Jackson is availing himself of the full range of loopholes by which he can transfer money to his family.”

This is interesting. I often wonder why people who are in office to serve ever have any time to take this much effort to try things like this? Must not have enough things to do.

You mean we have unethical people to? That does not count! We are special.

You mean we have unethical people to? That does not count! We are special.

So, you remember back in 2006 when Pelosi and her posse of self-righteous Dems gathered together to fight the Republicans and their culture of corruption? You do not? Here is the reminder straight from the past:

http://www.house.gov/pelosi/press/releases/Feb06/honest.html

Anyway, take a look at the latest from CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) which lists the members of Congress currently under investigation:

http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/39732

Nancy, thanks for alerting all of us to this and taking the bull by the horns! You are a true leader of ethics and morality and so is your party. Dems never cross ethical lines.

I count 4 Republicans on this list of 12. The other 8 are not Independents.
